Various lawmakers, speaking in the special hour of the Legislature-Parliament session today, drew the government’s attention towards contemporary issues. Farmullah Mansur of Nepali Congress said the report of Local Body Restructuring Commission (LBRC) was prepared haphazardly and it had fuelled dissatisfactions among the people at the local level. The report was supposed to be prepared on the basis of population and geography, but it came in contrary to such expectation, he said. CPN (UML)’s Binod Shrestha urged the government to be sensitive towards addressing issues concerning Nepali women workers abroad, demanding the protection and security to those Nepalis left stranded on foreign soil. CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Ashok Kumar Mandal said the LBRC report has failed to serve the spirit of the constitution and it should be scrapped. Prem Suwal of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party accused the Indian side of encroaching on man’s land along the Nepal-India border, increasing interference in country’s affairs and troubling Nepal, urging the House to make a ruling to the government to stop such meddling and untoward activities on no man’s land. Laxman Rajbanshi stressed that people should have rights to education on their mother tongues. Madhu Shahi Thakuri of Nepali Congress asserted that there should efforts from the government to make Nepali media which according to her are losing reputation more disciplined and ethnical. The Congress lawmaker was of the view that media role was pivotal in the implementation of the constitution and Nepali media should encouraged to collect and disseminate objective and credible news. Lal Bahadur Rawat of CPN (UML) sought the resumption of the West Seti Hydro Power Project at the earliest. The project that was the topic of talks since the past 32 years had not entered the implementation phase yet, he said
